Diane Ayre - a body reworked!

"The last few years in my life have been challenging; personally – coping on my own; financially – two sons at university, working full-time in higher education (including overseas travel); health issues – hip replacement and more recently cancer.

A follow up mammogram, scan and biopsy in December 2009 confirmed early stage breast cancer.  With the support of my sons and friends I underwent a mastectomy and tram re-construction in early 2010.  Whilst in recovery, 2 positive traces were found and I undertook a course of chemotherapy.

It was during this period that she discovered Breast Cancer Haven in Leeds, who introduced me to alternative therapies, support groups and Nouveau Beauty Beauty..."

Diane, like most chemotherapy sufferers lost her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.

“I never really realised just how down I was, looking at myself in the mirror: bald and scarred, I really didn’t recognise myself. I felt older than my 53 years and miserable.

Eventually, I rang Nouveau Beauty to discuss tattooing my eyebrows.  I have to say I was nervous but Karen and her team were marvellous, so reassuring and kind.

I love my eyebrows. I now look in the mirror and smile. I feel confident again, having my eyebrows tattooed was a small, but significant step in getting me back.” DA
