If you’re new to permanent makeup, you might not be sure where to start looking, what treatments are available or if it’s really for you. For some, it can feel like a huge life-changing decision. We fully believe you should have all the information at your disposal to make sure that you feel comfortable when you choose your treatment.
What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is designed to replicate the effects of your everyday makeup, so you can save time and money and gain confidence!
Using a specialist machine (very different from a tattoo machine), the artist will input the pigment (the colour) into your skin. This is a two part procedure. On your retouch appointment. you’ll be able to see the true, healed results. Most people often describe the sensation as holding an electric toothbrush against your skin.
We know some of the terms can sound scary or confusing, so take a look at our ultimate permanent makeup definitions guide to check anything you’re not too sure about.

But, if you’re still not sure. Here’s a few accounts from Karen Betts Professional clients.
“I never wanted a full eyeliner, I just wanted to make my eyes look bigger and more defined. When I found out I could get a lash enhancement I booked in straight away. To say it was such a subtle treatment, I can’t believe how many compliments I’ve got since!” - Natalie (Treatments: Lash Enhancement)
“Permanent makeup is something I’d heard about before, but I didn’t really know who to ask or where to go. It could get so frustrating on a morning when I couldn’t get my eyebrows even! Before I had sparse, patchy brows, now I have perfect brows with hair strokes in the right places” - Sarah (Treatments: Latino Flick Eyeliner, Combi Eyebrow)
“I have been dealing with Alopecia since I was 7 years old. It did make me feel self-conscious at time. My new eyebrows and eyeliner gave me such a confidence boost. I feel like myself again!” - Angie (Treatments: Baby Eyeliner, Eyebrow)
“Getting my lip treatment was a big plunge for me, but I couldn’t be happier with the results! My lipstick always goes on perfect now too, I have the perfect shape to follow if I ever want to make it darker or brighter)” - Amy (Treatments: Lip Liner, Lip Blush)
“I was a little nervous when I went in for my first eyeliner treatment. I knew it was something I wanted, but I was scared it’d hurt! I found that the Elite Artist was so reassuring and it nothing like what I thought It’d be. I’ll be back for my retouch soon and I can’t wait!”) - Sally (Treatments: Baby Eyeliner)
